Driven
into Pennsylvania by the British, the Continental Army set up camp at
Valley Forge, DECEMBER 19, 1777, just 25 miles from British occupied
Philadelphia. Lacking food and supplies, soldiers died at the rate of
twelve per day. Of 11,000 soldiers, 2,500 died of cold, hunger and
disease. A Committee from Congress reported "feet and legs froze till
they became black, and it was often necessary to amputate them."
Soldiers were there
from every State in the new union, some as young as 12, others as old
as 60, and though most were white, some were African American and
American Indians.
Quaker farmer Isaac Potts observed General Washington kneeling in
prayer in the snow. Hessian Major Carl Leopold Baurmeister noted the
only thing that kept
the American army from disintegrating was their "spirit of liberty."
In a letter written to John Banister, Washington recorded: "To see men
without clothes to cover their nakedness, without blankets to lay on,
without shoes, by which their marches might be traced by the blood from
their feet...and at Christmas taking up their...quarters within a day's
march of the enemy...is a mark of
patience and obedience which in my opinion can scarce be paralleled."
- Reprinted from William Federer's American Minute, December 19, 2008.

Dear Patriots, We are in need today of those who are willing to preserve the "spirit of liberty." We need those who are willing to sacrifice their lives, their fortunes and their reputations to the cause of liberty.
I was told yesterday that California has begun manning DUI checkpoints
with U.S. Marines. We need to be swift in resisting such blatant
attacks upon our civil liberties. We must not let these acts
become entrenched precedent, as our parents and grandparents have
allowed in other instances.
We must remember that the federal courts are a branch of the government. Although they are charged, as are all the branches, with securing our God-given inalienable rights, our founding fathers were adamant that no person, party or single branch of government could be trusted with such a valuable commodity as liberty.
Despite their warnings, we have quietly watched our federal government
violate our Constitution again and again - without recourse.
We must first educate ourselves. I know that I sound like a broken record, but if you have not read or listened to The 5000 Year Leap by Dr. Skousen, you MUST do so. www.nccs.net
You need to be armed with the power that knowledge brings. As
Thomas Jefferson warned, "if you expect to be ignorant and free...you
expect something that never was and never will be."
Then you MUST educate others. There is little time left to
instruct enough patriots who will recognize tyranny and know how to
resist it. The National Center for Constitutional Studies
offers one day seminars to help your church or group begin to learn the
necessary basics of freedom. They also offer DVD courses. www.nccs.net.
Then you must CHANGE your discussions. The public debate should
not be that you are "for" or "against" some particular act of
government. It must be that the act is or isn't
constitutional. Write to AARP, Reader's Digest, your local
newspaper, and every other publication that constantly and unabashedly
promotes unconstitutional acts by our federal government, such as
social security, government-controlled health care, medical research,
arts, education and local
police.
Then you must organize rallies that call attention to the
ever-increasing tyrannical acts of our federal government. We now have
a federal government that has broken free of all
its legal bounds. It regulates, controls, taxes and funds
whatever and wherever it chooses - without restraint. We are no
longer under the rule of law. We are now ruled by an arbitrary
and capricious federal government that has grown beyond its delegated
powers. We now have politicians,
judge and executives who have no idea what our inalienable rights are,
let alone that they are in office to protect them!
Who cares if our rallies begin small? We are in the majority and
Americans everywhere are waiting for someone to lead them. They
are looking for somewhere to show their disapproval and
frustration in an organized, patriotic manner.
After the holidays, I am planning to have printed a large, black banner
with the words, "Tyranny!" in large white letters to hang on my
house. I think that I might need some literature to hand out if
anyone asks me why I have the banner. Let me know if you need one
too!
Let's roll, Patriots!
