THE FIFTY-SEVENTH MAN


To American Citizens:
 

I am writing this to you in order to inform you of the cost of your freedom.  It seems to me that many in our day have been sadly misinformed by the history revisionists.  They have rewritten the history of the United States by leaving out key events so as to shape our view and manipulate our understanding of the past and future of our beloved country.

I have been doing a study on the true history of America for quite some time.  The more I delve into the facts, the more I am impressed with the beginnings of our nation.  I am a man that admires the bravery and the independent spirit that is demonstrated by anyone, but the absolute resolute actions of our nation's founding fathers and mothers is outstanding!

I am overwhelmed by the heroism and patriotism they had when they stood against all odds and the greatest nation on earth at that time, England.  Why would they do this?  For the sake of liberty and the freedom to worship God as they saw fit.  They rested the entire outcome of the Revolutionary War upon the shoulders of the promises of God found in the Holy Bible. They believed God to be true and His Word sure, so they made the greatest step of faith ever recorded with pen and paper since the days of the Apostles, and like the Apostles, sealed it with hardship and blood.  Taking God at His Word and believing He would give them the victory, they wrote a “Declaration” saying:
 

 “When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.“


Space and time hinder me from writing it all down, but suffice it to say in the last paragraph they revealed to England and to their posterity, (that’s us), how they were going to accomplish this David and Goliath match up:

 “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other out Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor.”


Notice how!  “With a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence!”  Did you ever ask yourself, “How did they rely upon God?”  They had the Bible, yes, the Bible!  They had the courage and steel to believe in God’s promises in the face of overwhelming odds!  Just like King David, when all others were quaking in their boots, David said, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine to defy the armies of the living God?”  That’s the way they did it, Americans!   Then with the brilliance and wisdom of God they wrote the Constitution of the United States. The greatest document of government ever written.  Once again let me remind you, they did this by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ through His Word…
 

 “We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, [that’s us] do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”   [Brackets mine].


The rest, as they say, "is history!"  But history has a way of repeating itself.  Once again we see the oppression of liberties by unjust judges.  Once again we see the restraint of religious freedom by unjust judges in Alabama.  Once again we see the good judges who represent “WE THE PEOPLE” blocked from serving.  We could literally repeat the offenses listed in the Declaration of Independence and replace the name of the King of England with the ACLU, UNJUST Judges and political Agendas who do not mirror the Voice of “WE THE PEOPLE”.  So let our voice be heard!  Let's not rest until freedom and liberty are restored.  Let them know by your voice that government in the United States is still through WE THE PEOPLE and not we the ACLU or we the Judges!  We have an urgent need for patriots to rise up and vote the oppressors out of office. Call upon Congress to impeach Judges who violate the Constitution by making their own bias law!  And to send a message to ACLU and all organizations that who erode our freedoms that God honoring and freedom loving Americans will not remain quiet anymore. Because Americans’ hear the sound of the Liberty Bell of old and we will rise to the to defend our nation from all enemies either foreign or domestic.

Let us examine again the last phrase of the preamble to the Declaration of Independence, “We mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor.”  Fifty-six men signed their names to the document, knowing full well they were possibly signing their own death warrant.  Let me quote from the magazine, “The Rebirth of America,” by Arthur S. DeMoss Foundation, “Out of the 56 men, five were captured by the British and tortured before they died.  Twelve had their homes, from Rhode Island to Charleston, sacked, looted, occupied by the enemy, or burned.  Two lost their sons in the army.  One had two sons captured.  Nine died in the war, from its hardships or from bullets.”  I can’t help it sometimes, the tears that well up in my eyes when I read the truth of the cost of our county’s history.

Recently, I attend a meeting at Clearwater Christian College where the great patriot, Dr. Ralph Reed, was the keynote speaker.  He gave a wonderful, passionate speech on “Citizenship As A Christian,” Just before he was to speak, the Color Guard, very respectively and deliberately, brought in the flag of the United States of America.  You could have heard a pin drop as every eye was trained on the Stars and Stripes.  I was already blinking back the tears as I watched the flag placed in its position of honor in the front of the auditorium.  Then a gentleman stepped to the podium and asked us to recite The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.  I was so moved in my heart, the lump in my throat interrupted my voice as I repeated the pledge. Why, you ask?  I know the price of blood that was shed for that flag, from the pilgrims to the fifty-six, and now by those sacrificing and dying in Iraq.  Though I was unable to honor with my words what the flag represented, I know I honored it with my tears.

What about you, American?  Don’t just tell me you love our county, show me!  Our nation needs a new birth of freedom!  I see with my minds eye our founding fathers and mothers watching and encouraging us to pick up their baton!  We need patriots who will stand again with those who have stood before.  We already have the foundation built upon countless American lives, and a Constitution sealed with the hardship and blood of the fifty-six men.  Let me ask you a very personal question, my friend, “If the Constitution of the United States were laid down in front of you today knowing full well what it meant to sign it, would you pick up your feather pen and become the FIFTY-SEVENTH MAN to sign?”  “Will you pledge to America today your LIFE, YOUR FORTUNES AND YOUR SACRED HONOR?”  A great cloud of patriots who are watching us today surrounds us.  What will you do to keep freedom ringing?
