San
Francisco: Where Freedom Reigns (Except For Our Military)
12/13/06
Many liberals hold up the city
of San Francisco as a liberal utopia. Particularly
because it offers its citizens the "choice" to be themselves. From
pot-smokers (and growers)
to the large gay/lesbian community, San Francisco's political leaders
pride themselves on
the freedoms their city offers its citizens.
However, not all of San
Francisco's citizens enjoy the "choice" to live the life they
would want to live. The San Francisco school board recently created
a new district-wide policy
banning the Junior ROTC from public school campuses. In addition, it
created this policy with
the full support of the Mayor's office. In the past, young men and
women in the San Francisco
school system had the "choice" of joining the Junior ROTC as a first
step in starting a
career in the military after they graduated. If students wanted to
join the Junior ROTC,
they needed parental permission, allowing parents to fully discuss
this choice with them.
So the choice to serve our
country in the military is denied by the very same
people who campaign on a "pro-choice" platform every election cycle.
In the twisted minds of
the political leaders of San Francisco, a teen can murder their unborn
child but they can not
join the Junior ROTC. In addition, the political leadership of San
Francisco fights to allow
teens to have "the choice" to murder their unborn child without parental
notification. But teens
who had parental permission and support to join the Junior ROTC are
denied their choice.
This grotesque double-standard
by the liberals in San Francisco
is a slap in the face of every man and woman who has ever served in
our military. While
our military grants and protects San Francisco's freedom, they deny
that same freedom
to young men and women who want to join the noblest of professions.
Finally, to the young
men and women of San Francisco who want to join the Junior ROTC, the
Lord sees your
might and America appreciates your courage, even if San Francisco's
liberal establishment
does not!
"Give unto the Lord, O you mighty ones, Give unto the Lord glory and
strength." (Psalm 29)
God Bless America,
